The Universal Law of Reciprocation

Let me ask you a question...

Is there something -- anything in your life you're not happy with, that you wish you could change but haven't been able to harness the power to transform, no matter how hard you've tried?

Maybe it's your body.
Maybe it's your job or career.
Maybe it's your marriage or relationship with family or friends.
Maybe it's that secret dream or desire you gave up on years ago because you decided you just couldn't make it happen.

If the answer is yes, there's a good chance you are going to need some extra
support to help you succeed. Someone who will help you out. A friend. A "coach". Someone to encourage you to stick with your plan -- to stay on the right path and not give up.

But, unfortunately, in today's cynical society, surrounding yourself with positive people who will encourage you is not always easy. But it can happen.

How?

Well... you can't demand support or encouragement, that's for sure. Sitting around waiting for support doesn't work either.

I believe the antidote is this: put the Universal Law of Reciprocation to work for you.

If you've never heard of that "law," you're not alone, even though it is the oldest rule in the book -- it is at the center of virtually every religious, moral, and ethical system in the world.

The Universal Law of Reciprocation dictates that the more you and I help others, the more our lives are enhanced. It's so simple yet so powerful.

Awhile back, I made a big discovery. Most people have it backward. They want to get before they give. This formula never works in the long run.

My experience is this: when I focus on creating value for others, in my personal or professional life, I don't get back a return that merely equals what I invest. I know my return will be double, triple, or in some cases, even ten times greater. And for the most part, I don't even think about my future return. The payoff is automatic and it adds up.

For example, I have had the special privilege or receiving thousands of letters, calls and emails each week from men and women around the world. Because I've helped support them over the years, they now encourage me. I meet these great people everywhere I go. They are my coaches, my friends, each and every one of them. They've lifted me higher than I ever dreamed I could rise. And they've inspired me to continue to reach even higher -- helping people transform from all walks of life.

My goal is to help you achieve your goals. To do everything I can to educate and empower you, not just to "get in shape" but to help you build and strengthen every aspect of your life. With that in mind, I highly recommend that you put the universal law of reciprocation to work for you by practicing these principles which have worked so well for me and many others:

Exercise #1: Give Positive Feedback Daily

Each and every day, make a self-promise to find something positive you haven't recognized before in two people. Trust me, if you look you will find it.

When you make this one of your goals, it'll be like the sun just came out from behind a dark cloud -- things will become more colorful -- more clear.

Let's give it a try right now -- take just two minutes and think about two people who are an important part of your life -- two people whom you would like to have support and encourage you to achieve your goals. Now, identify just one uniquely positive thing about each of those good people, one thing you haven't recognized before.

You might think about one of the special things your husband or wife, or your mother or father, or your children do to add value to your life. Don't focus on the little things they might do that aren't "perfect." For a moment, only see what is right. Then, promise yourself you will share this positive thought with that person by the end of the day tomorrow. You can do this in person or by simply writing a brief note on a card or piece of paper and sending it to them. Written, appreciative words have enormous power.

This exercise creates immediate results that will increase your energy and confidence and show you what a difference it makes when you look for what's right instead of what's wrong. When you say something as simple as, "I appreciate your support," you not only lift that person's spirit but, as directed by the Universal Law of Reciprocation, you will get more positive energy than you give. That's the way it always has and always will work.

Begin the process of being a purveyor of positive energy with your family and friends, but don't stop there. You can practice this same exercise whenever and wherever you want to create a more positive environment. For example, if you're feeling a little uncertain at work, or in the gym, look for something good in two people you come into contact with, and make a point to say something sincere and supportive.  You might see someone at the gym who you can tell is making great effort to improve him or her self. By simply saying, "it looks like you're making some excellent progress... I admire your hard work," you will not only lift that person's energy, you will feel more confident as well.

I hope that you find that this message resonates with you. If you would like to learn all three exercises Check back on the blog later this week.

Wishing You the best of Health,
Bill Phillips
